The company that would come to be known as F&R
was founded in 1881, when German-born chemist Henry Froehling, M.D.,
Ph.D., established a chemical laboratory and coal mining consulting firm
in Richmond, Virginia.
In 1900, Scottish-born chemist Dr. Andrew Robertson
joined Dr. Froehling in his business, and named their firm Froehling
& Robertson. The firm incorporated in 1924.
Today, F&R is the 10th oldest business in Virginia and has offices throughout the mid-Atlantic.
F&R
remains committed to those values which have embodied our existence
since 1881: fairness, integrity, high ethical standards and a sense of
family.
F&R is a minority-owned business and is certified as such by the
Commonwealth of Virginia. Furthermore, we are recognized by the State
of North Carolina as a Historically Underutilized Business. F&R’s
laboratories are accredited by the AASHTO (AMRL/CCRL), U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers, and WACEL. Technical personnel are certified by agencies
including ACI, ASTM, AWS, ICC, NICET, and WACEL. Finally, F&R is
accredited by the Virginia Department Professional & Occupational
Regulation as a licensed training provider for various asbestos
disciplines.
